For our family concert of this golden anniversary year, we present a delightfully varied programme that includes some pieces played during the first year of the orchestra's foundation (Coates and Vaughan Williams), an old favourite we've played many times (Elgar) and a couple of pieces by Scandinavian composers which we've never played before (Sibelius and Grøndahl).
In a change to our advertised soloist, Josh Blows will be the Trombone soloist - he was a finalist in the WMSO young musician competition a few years ago and is now an established soloist, so we look forward to welcoming him back to play this concerto with us.
