Spring 2016 Concert

Saturday 12th March 2016 at 7.30pm

At Eton College School Hall

SIBELIUS: Finlandia
WAGNER: Prelude to Parsifal
PROKOFIEV: Piano Concerto No 3
BRAHMS: Symphony No 1

Piano: Dominic Degavino (WMSO Young Musician 2014)

This programme contrasts the stirring nationalism of Finlandia – the work Sibelius didn’t want to be remembered for – and the pinnacle of romantic idealism in Parsifal, the culmination of Wagner’s output. It also includes a piano concerto that is a testament not only to its composer’s brilliance but also to his introspection and the symphony that eluded Brahms until the age of 42, a monument to music for its own sake and a worthy successor to Beethoven’s.

Tickets: £15 (gallery), £12.50 (main hall), £5.00 (student/child), under 12s free
